Mariam Aydoun

she/her/hers | Senior Economic Justice Fellow

Mariam is a single mother and a Muslim immigrant. Originally from Morocco, she considers Washington DC her home for almost a decade, during which she developed a strong sentiment of belonging to the District and its unique culture. With a professional background in hospitality and entertainment, Mariam was one of the several workers most impacted by the pandemic, which led her to face housing and food insecurities while pregnant. During that time of need, Mariam understood the importance and the power of the community to keep people who are the most vulnerable safe, and vowed to dedicate her free time to advocate for the causes that personally matter to her and her neighbors. At MJF, Mariam serves as the Senior Economic Justice Fellow where she manages the Thriving Futures Guaranteed Income Program and supports with base-building efforts focused on workers. Mariam also supports with narrative projects focused on workers and the Thriving Futures program.
